​As demand for care rises and the workforce shrinks, in-home care—the most preferred option—is becoming increasingly unreliable, costly, and difficult to access, especially for those with complex needs. Families are stepping in to fill gaps, with over 50% of care now self- directed and many states paying family caregivers.
